Pricing, or lack of - Why?

You can’t buy a scale by price alone! You need expert advice which you don’t get by clicking the “buy now” button. We don’t want to sell scales anonymously to someone in Western Australia, Northern Territory or anywhere outside our immediately serviceable area - just to make a buck. Coastal Scales has always taken pride in providing personalised service to our clients, establishing EXACTLY what their needs are, then finding the best scale to suit. A recent incident in our region was a pallet scale (worth over $2,500) being incorrectly ordered with the wrong capacity. We actually could have supplied the correct unit for less then they originally paid and in shorter time frame. However, we had to charge this customer to come down change the settings, recalibrate and verify it. Total loss to the customer over $500.00! We have had many people who bought a cheap internet scale thinking they got a bargain. When they bring it to us for repair, we have to tell them we can’t get spare parts - throw it in the bin and start again! Then there’s the numerous people who have asked us to verify their scale to legal requirements , but the problem is, the scale is not approved by the Australian Government - throw it in the bin and start again! We have even had situations where the scales are working fine, just weighing out. After tracking down the manufacturer and emailing them in China, Korea, etc., the response is - “send it back to us, we will fix it”. The freight costs more than the scale - throw it in the bin and start again! The service Coastal Scales provides is not just selling a scale and hoping we never see it again, we don’t want to see it again. What we want is to see you come back to us when you need another one, because of the service we offered. For example, if you bring your scale in for repair we’ll fix it without having to send it away and we’ll provide a loan unit to keep you going until we do fix it and if it’s under warranty - and a genuine claim - this is all free of any cost to you.
