17/10/2016 - New Weighbridge Test Unit

The day has finally arrived, Coastal Scales & Registers “Weighbridge Test Unit” is ready for action. It’s maiden trip will be to the Northern Tablelands this week with work in Tenterfield, Glen Innes and Inverell. After many years hiring test units from Brisbane and suffering the disappointment of non-availability (especially during times of breakdowns), poorly maintained equipment, etc, Coastal Scales & Registers has taken the big plunge and invested in 22t of Verified Test Masses and a 3t capacity forklift. We could not see the value in buying our own prime mover and trailer, so the next part of the plan was to find someone reliable to move them around for us. Enter Sean Stephens and Northern Rivers Crane Truck Transport. Sean has a standard drop deck trailer which is the style used by the majority of test units in the country, but in much better condition than those I’ve used over the last 20 years. The added bonus is Sean has a crane truck (obviously with a business name like that he would) with 9.5m trailer allowing us to do e.g. Macadamia Recieval Bins without, in some cases, the need of a Franna. We will also be assessing the possible benefits of using the crane truck with some easy access weighbridges and other ways to improve the operation generally. There are some major changes about to happen, stay tuned for these.

BENEFITS TO OUR LOYAL CLIENTS

FASTER RESPONSE TIMES

As the truck and weights based in Lismore and generally on standby, we are available for a super fast response time - the truck will not be at the “Top End” in the middle of a three week run.

CHEAPER BREAKDOWN CALL OUTS

For anyone between Murwillumbah and Macksville - and out past Inverell - we have the closest truck, able to save you up to seven hours return travel (1) . Further to this, an overnight expense for the driver is possibly wiped out (1) . Some of our clients have paid well over $4,000 (just for the truck) for an emergency breakdown, now it could be half that price! (1)

ROUTINE TRIPS

There won’t be too much change to our routine runs, excepting we will have a lot more flexibility. We are now able to chop and change days easier and not have to pack a solid five or six day run into a week. If it rains, no worries, we’ll pick another day - no penalty for sending the truck back to Brisbane. As we have always spread the cost of travel over all bridges over the whole week, pricing of regular runs won’t really change. The advantage to you now though is, in the event of a breakdown, you won’t pay that much more than the normal run charges. Coastal Scales & Registers and Northern Rivers Crane Truck Transport - working together for the benefit of industrial weighing in the Northern Rivers, North Coast and Northern Tablelands. (1) The comments are general only. It depends obviously on the location of the weighbridge, waiting time for dead load etc,. To stay informed why not sign up below to our mailing list? We hate getting emails EVERY day from companies and we’re that busy we haven’t got time to send that many. We assure you, if you sign up, there will be no more than one a month in each area of interest.
